HMRC ‘Childcare Choices’ campaign launched to raise awareness of tax-free childcare support

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is trying to encourage more parents to tap into financial support when they need a helping hand with their childcare responsibilities.

This autumn, HMRC has launched a marketing and communications campaign called ‘Childcare Choices’, which is dedicated to raising awareness of initiatives such as tax-free childcare support.

What is tax-free childcare support?

Under existing rules, parents can receive anywhere up to £2,000 per child per year towards typical day-to-day childcare costs.

However, the scheme extends much further for those with younger children, as parents of three and four-year-olds can also take advantage of 30 hours of free childcare per week.

The Childcare Choices campaign has been launched with the aim of increasing take-up of these great benefits, which are often overlooked by many British parents.

The tax-free childcare scheme is currently available for working parents of children aged 12 and under who are earning more than £125 per week but less than £100,000 per parent per annum.
